Ahh, Texan Educational Standards.
People not important enough for Texan students to know the names of: Carl Sagan, Colin Powell, Neil Armstrong, Mother Teresa.
People that are important enough: Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh.
GG, Texas.

You expected something different?
Well, it’s the Super-Monroe Doctrine: “Get off our oil, people who dress funny!” - M. Bouffant
"You're a bad captain, Zarde. People like you only learn by being touched, and hard. And you will greatly disapprove of where these men put their hands." - M. Vanderbeam.

It is not particularly poor form to decry the expected evil when it occurs, the last I checked.

I suppose that's better than exclusively studying the first item in that list. The proposed standards suggest sixth-graders be expected to explain the significance of religious observances of major faiths, including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism.

...and to think that most of us are raised with the idea that we're on top of the world.
I hope my grandkids get to read a chapter in the history book about Rush Limbaugh's diluted existence.
Who cares about people who have actually made a positive difference in the world! FUCK CHANGE. GOD WINS.

Also included:
Austin American-Statesman
There are now references in the standards to the U.S. as a "democratic republic," rather than just a "democracy." Some of the reviewers, including a former vice chairman of the Texas Republican Party, had suggested changing terms such "democratic values" to "republican values" because the country is republic as well as a democracy.

Your point? Our government is technically a Democratic Republic and always has been.
Look over the Pledge of Allegiance if you don't believe its so.

If you're referring to the "democratic" values vs "republican" values thing, I will agree its stupid. Otherwise they're correct.

Hey, you figured out what his point was! The suggested change was stupid and obviously politically motivated.
