Limited Showing Of 9?

This is the most odd thing ever. Almost none of the major theaters in the city are showing this movie. I mean I'd understand if they didn't show it on the 4 story main screen but to not show it at all, and instead show weeks old stuff like: G-Force 3-D, Julie & Julia, G. I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, & The Time Travelers Wife instead? This is not just odd, something has to be up? The major (read only) Theater chain in this area of the country is Malco, maybe there's some legal dispute or something?

Anyone know of, or can think of any reason this would be taking place?

Not to mention, every one of those showing it but the Majestic is gross (like your feet stick to the floors gross). None of the major ones are showing it at all. That makes sense. In the shitty little town where I grew up, our only theater was a run-down 2 screener with barely any elevation difference between the front and back of the theater. The tickets were only $5 which was nice, but I agree with you, I would never pay "normal" price to sit in a theater like that.

Just set up your own badass home theater system and download movies like this? It's hard to beat an actual theater, but at least you don't have pay out the ass only to have some Duggar family there letting their kids run up and down the isles.

If you are going to bring your fucking kids to an R rated movie, FFS please at least keep them quiet! That shit drives me wild! Can't find a babysitter for your kids? Obviously the solution is just to bring them along to the opening night of District 9 so that they can ruin hundreds of other peoples' experience of the movie! Don't worry, no one will say anything to you because you're big and black - do it!

That's what I'm doing, I'm going to not watch this movie in the theater and wait till it comes out on Blu-Ray. Their loss. My original post was because I simply couldn't understand any theater not showing this movie as their main flick this week. When I found out the reason then, yeah it's an official rant. And what the fuck? Because my bitch isn't about a starving 3rd world country I'm not allowed to be annoyed by bullshit? Maybe I should switch it up to something more "dire" like my K-Mart manager or something eh?

I considered posting it in the General section, but it didn't start out as a rant and originally thought it might roll into a review of the movie. After reading several of the reviews I'm thinking I might have dodged a bullet on this anyway. Apparently it the movie wasn't bad but didn't hold up to the hype the trailer suggested.
