So I took a trip to Southern California last week. It was my first time going, and all around pretty fun. Saw a taping of The Price is Right, and then went to Disneyland and Seaworld. Here's what I thought...

Los Angeles: I always heard that LA was big, but goddamn...that's a big fucking city. Traffic wasn't as bad as people make it out to be, though we didn't drive the 405, and I hear that's the worst.

San Diego: Nice town. Even the homeless people seemed to be in good moods. Also big.

Disneyland: My town would fit inside Disneyland like six times. What. The. Fuck. I wouldn't 'go back, the rides were really overrated and the lines took 20 minutes even though we had a disability card that let us fastpass through everything. I can't imagine why anyone would wait 2 hours for a stupidly short ride like the matterhorn. The traincar coaster was the best, and it actually had a reasonable line. The night show over the lake was pretty sweet though. Would be interesting to see what California Adventures had to offer.

Seaworld: Best part of the trip. Shows were awesome, animals were awesome, rides were OK but definitely not worth the 1hr+ wait. Shamu's night show was just a repeat of his day show, but the second dolphin night show was pretty badass, probably the best of the day. Oh and the food sucked - the highlight of Seaworld's consumables was an overpriced churro sold out of a cart.

A special mention to In-N-Out burger: What the fuck is the big deal? Its got a stupidly small menu, burgers that are good but not even close to unique, and fries that taste like they didn't even bother frying them. Why are there consistently 20+ people in line for it? Why did Drew Carey rave about the double double? I had the double double, it wasn't that good. It was good, yeah, but not 15 minute wait for a fast food burger good. Burgerville kicks the shit out of In-N-Out any day.

If anyone is from Southern Cali i'd be interested to see what else is a good time if I go down there again. Was a pretty stereotypically touristy trip this time, but it was on my girlfriend's family's dime, so whatever.

Yeah, LA is fucking huge!

I loved Knottsberry Farm when our family took a trip down there years ago.

We drove 1/101 from San Diego to Portland when we were over there. Amazing drive, except for the RVs.

The Zoo in San Diego is awesome.
Hearst Castle is fun to look at.
I enjoyed Universal Studios in LA, but it helped that we were friends (through EQ) with one of the chief pyros there who was an awesome guy to hang out with.
Walking around Hollywood Blvd/Sunset Strip was cool, but I wouldn't do it again. Staying in a B&B on Sunset was good fun though.
Going up the top of the LA city hall is interesting.
The Mojave Desert is good to drive around.
There's a bunch of pretty towns on the coast between Monterey Bay and San Francisco worth messing around in.
...and probably getting into northern cali now.
