Godric hasn't been saved yet. Marianne is sort of a god so I wouldn't expect too much in the way of her being actually killed.

Yeah I read on wiki (sookie stackhouse series) that she isn't that big of a player in the series and just wanders off to go look for more "tribute" or such. So, chances are she'll either go out in a big, bloody way or she'll just kind of go away and do her own thing. I love me some Michelle Forbes so I'm hoping if she does leave she comes back in some form later on.

I was hoping for some vampire-vs-devil-god action, but I think Marianne will probably just get bored and move on to something else eventually.

That whole church thing is pretty creepy. lol@jason's new lady friend tasering him because she doesn't want him to leave. Her husband is more than a little crazy - I'm sure he has some horrible end coming to him.

I think the preacher's wife is actually going to help Jason and Sookie. At least I hope that's what she's going to do. She has seemed pretty upset by her husband's recent actions lately. I like her. She's so incredibly TEXAS.

I don't remember exactly what happened in the book, because I'm not sure she really had a relationship with Jason (it was so long ago when I read that one) but she could be actually pissed off at him because he's been outed as an infiltrator. She might feel dirty now and want to make him pay. If she planned on helping him and Sookie, she probably would have talked to him, not tazed him.

So Harlowe, I managed to read the first book over the course of the last two nights. The ending wasn't as shocking as it perhaps may have been if I didn't know who the killer was from watching season one of the show. The writing was of mediocre quality. Does it get any better as the books progress? I already have the second book, and I'll probably end up reading them all, just because I love the show so much.

To be honest, the writing never improves and the storylines can be really cheesy-awful. I think I mentioned this already, but I started the series as cabin-beach reading trash that my aunt already had laying around. I then started getting future releases, mostly to see what was going to happen to Eric and hoping they went more into the politics of the vampire society. Which is why I think it's the fourth book that I enjoyed the most (and the Vampire Queen Sophie-Ann storyline, but I think that's around book 6), not the writing, but the storyline because Eric was at the center of the story.

They are all pretty much junk-food trash novels only slightly better written then Stephanie Meyers. But easy reads, so it won't take up much of your time, you'll have some groan-worthy moments and you'll feel dirty for reading the novels. Not because they are nasty, but the writing isn't really any better than fanfiction.

Yeah, I already groaned a few times with the cheesy descriptions of the sex scenes. I started the second book today and went ahead and ordered the next few from half.com. I'm going to the beach for a week next month, so if I don't finish them while sitting around the house will probably get another one or two read then.

After last week's episode, I have been itching for the next one. It got picked up for a third season, so next summer we can resurrect this thread for more True Blood lovin'.

Kind of blah episode this time. Cool ideas and there were some cool moments, but it felt very overwrought and melodramatic.

Bill's maker was just kind of . . . umm . . . I'm not sure I like what they're doing with her. They're making her really pathetic and snotty (in a 14 year old girl kind of way). I guess I want her to be more complex than this.

Tara and Eggs eating that pie. Umm. Eww? I don't know, the Marianne storyline just seems to be dragging out and dragging out.

Awesome highlights:

Jason messin' some shit up, haha. Man, I was laughing my ass off at some of his lines and stuff. Interesting chemistry between him and Godric, eh?

Speaking of Godric . . . I really like the guy. He's coming across as this benevolent type progressive/idealist. But, you also know he would wipe some shit out in the matter of minutes (and he's older than Christ). I wonder just how old. Looking up the name meaning of "Godric" it seems to mean, "God ruler," "power of God," etc. Old English, so he's from Britain is my guess. Interesting. I like him.

Eric is interesting. I'm enjoying his complexity.

Sam in jail. Bleh. He's smarter than that. He should have fled when his doggy-sense went off and he saw Daphne in the walk-in. As a matter of fact, why the heck did he even go into Merlotte's after that call? Durrh.

I like Godric. Definitely hoping they take his storyline somewhere.
I like Eric more than Bill. Bill just seems kind of annoying to me right now.

The paintball shots from Jason were cool. It would hurt like hell to get shot in the forehead like that.

Eric's "do not use words you do not understand / do not use words I do not understand" lines were great.
And another freaking cliffhanger!

Isn't that just a recap of this week?

I didn't think the episode was blah until that awkward "cocktail party" afterwards, but it definitely ended with cliffhanger bigger than the last one imo.

For me, the downers so far: Sam is boring. His storylines are boring, his personality is boring, everything he's involved in bores me. He looks like a little weasel man as well - like a druggie or a drunk - so there isn't that redeeming "but he's haaaawt eye-candy!" thing either. Another gripe, I'm getting tired of the whole Tara and Eggs thing as well. Each episode it's kind of the same shit with those two, get all wiggy-possessed via Marianne and have rough sex and whine about losing time. Lets wrap up this story okay? Because Marianne bores me as well. zzzzzzzZZZzzzzz

The good stuff: Jason, Eric, Godric, Jessica & Hoyt. I would have loved to see more Jessica and Hoyt (and less Tara & Eggs) and Jason has been really entertaining this season and I've enjoyed his storylines, he's just a fun characater. I really like Godric in this and he was just as likable in the book, I enjoy the whole "wise and benevolent leader who is very, very world-weary" thing. Eric is always Eric, he doesn't disappoint.

I totally forgot about Jessica and Hoyt! Her hymen growing back was great. I didn't expect that.

There's a great little flash of a scene with her in the footage from Comicon that gives me high hopes for her character.

I pretty much agree with all you guys are saying, except I love Sam. I just think they're writing some crap for him lately. I'm really interested in learning more of his background and I thought Daphne was starting to bring some things out in him. However, it all felt so hollow when we learned that she had the scratches on her back (and knew Marianne was probably involved). I always felt like, "she's cute, but . . . yeah . . . she's:

1. gonna die
2. involved with the bad guys

And sure enough . . . I would have appreciate a little more suspense and less predictable material with him. I do think he's attractive (albeit in a scruffy way), but definitely not up there with Eric or Bill or Jason.

Jason's stuff had me laughing so hard in this last episodes. He's just so vapid at times. When Eric told him, "You're known as someone who buys and uses V," he just shook his head with those big, doe-eyes and said, "nuh uh. Not anymore!" And anyone else but Jason couldn't have pulled that off and actually had someone believe him.

I love that he's so protective of Sookie. Sookie and Bill, yeah. Boring me. It's like the show keeps throwing things in between them and it feels so forced. Eric would be a nice change.

Jessica and Hoyt are awesome. :) When she said, "I'll be a virgin forever" . . . was it me, or did Hoyt kinda smile? Almost like his perfect girl--the eternal virgin.

Argh!! Suicide bombing!! What an annoying cliffhanger again! I liked seeing Godrick lay down some law through the episode. What he said to Bill's maker was pretty cool.

I like Sam and definitely think he's hawt. I don't think Bill or Eric are attractive at all though. Jason, Sam, or Godrick (even though he's like 12 :? ) ftw. Eggs isn't bad either, I suppose.

I remember Eggs from an episode of Dollhouse. The campus-gone-wild one.

Man, I really don't know what you guys see in Sam, I think maybe it's his feathered hair and boring storylines that really make me go bleargh. But man Tax, I don't think he even compares to the Northman!

Alexander Skarsgard is a yummy hot Swedish actor, I've seen him without his True Blood look so maybe that's why he's so hot to me.

Cut your hair you damn hippie!! Skarsgard wouldn't be bad if he at least had it shorter. I know Sam has longer hair too, but it's not too bad.

Wow, Skarsgard is nice without the foot-long locks though.
