TSA.. The Stupid Associates...

The judge gets it right. Thank god. And you should listen to the conversation between the Ron Paul gut and the TSA/Police. The TSA guy clearly is yanking chains because it gives him a power-woody. The frontline police guy doesn't really yank chains, but has to kick it up the ladder because he obviously is new to the position. When kicked up the ladder to a superior, the cop asks two questions, cuts the guy loose, and pretty much tells rent-a-cop that he's a buffoon.
DOES TAKING OFF YOUR SHOES AND BEING INSPECTED BY PEOPLE WHO CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH MAKE YOU FEEL SAFER?

The TSA needs to stop pretending its a law enforcement agency. It's there to secure aircraft. End of story.

I agree.
I kind of want someone to fuck with them (safely). Stick a used tampon in an envelope in the luggage.

Those guys get minimum wage and part time hours. They can be fired without cause at the drop of a hat.
They are just doing what they are told. If you want to blame anyone, blame the bureaucrats at the to of the org chart. The guys who are paranoid of failing to "connect the dots" Afraid of sitting in front of a row of congressmen trying to explain why they let a terrorist slip on to a plane.

Why not just blame the Congressmen who voted it in in the first place?
I am however not shocked by the ACLU's slective enforcement of "civil liberties" as apparently they have no issue with someone seripitiously recording a private conversation as long as it suits their greater goals.Mr. Bierfeldt recorded the encounter on his iPhone and the American Civil Liberties Union filed suit in June against Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, claiming in part that Mr. Bierfeldt’s experience at the airport was not an anomaly.

Umm... no. They are in bands D/E on the TSA payscale, which puts them well above minimum wage. Certainly not raking in the money but it's far better than McD's.Klast Brell wrote:Those guys get minimum wage and part time hours.
Both are at fault for the rampant stupidity that goes on. In any case, pushing stupidity onto employees is a virtually guaranteed way of being completely ineffective at preventing terrorists from boarding planes (which the TSA is). If you can't immediately think of a half dozen ways of terrorizing a plane then you really suck with your imagination. If you want to blame anyone, blame the bureaucrats at the to of the org chart. The real security on aircraft is the increased number of air marshals, the reinforced cockpit doors and the fact that passengers know to fight back. Everything else is security theater. In any case, a smart terrorist would target a sporting event.

The part about the recording of the conversation... I don't get where you're coming from there. Conversations aren't private by their very nature, they are shared communications between two people.Kulaf wrote:Why not just blame the Congressmen who voted it in in the first place?

In some states, only one party to theconversation has to give consent to recording the conversation. In other states, it has to be all parties. Its not like a entity was eavesdropping. I see no protection of privacy issue here.

Re: TSA.. The Stupid Associates...
Sometimes the ACLU can be over the top. The fact is, there wasn't anything illegal or unconstitutional about that recording. The guy who recorded the conversation owns that conversation since he was a part of it, and no one was trying to keep any part of it secret.
I actually have an issue with states that require the consent of all parties to record a conversation. Why should I have to get consent if I want to record something that is freely given to me?

Well I would argue that given the spurious nature of conversation that it is given to you in that moment and that moment alone. Now if you want to require notification that you are going to be recoding the conversation and people still want to give it to you that would be fine by me.
