From Stardock and Gas Powered Games.
Honestly I am excited about this game because it reminds me of Archon and Archon Ultra from the old days and skill based chess games as the units fight. Since it is team based you have the potential of long games if there is lots of swings back and forth of portals or resources.
While it plays like a RTS there is no specific resource gathering, just ownership of certain map points (portals, gold mines, etc..). Your demigod levels up during the fight and you can spend money on defenses or items to help you during battle.

Re: DemiGod
I've been following it for a while, and am not sure whether I'll love it or get bored fast and move on. I'm not huge on multiplayer so I suspect the latter, but for people who are big on multiplayer it's going to be huge. The whole persistent tournament thing is pretty cool too.

Yeah I worry about burn out as well. The persistent pantheon tournament is cool, but could grow old fast.

Re: DemiGod
Fun Game in my opinion.
The game only has the multi-player feel to it. In single player you are either on a skirmish or a multiple round tournament against npcs. Which is very typical of all of the stardock games i have played with a lack of a single player campaign. There is no tutorial, just tooltips.
4 game modes:
Slaughter - Kill X demi gods on opposing team
Fortress - Destroy X major buildings
Conquest - Destroy enemy citadel
Valor - Collect X resources based on flag ownership
Manual can be found here: http://www.stardock.com/demigodmanual.pdf
For some reason it was missed in patch with the online distribution.
The strategy comes in to how you spend your gold. Whether it is on upgrading items (armor, scrolls, potions), upgrading citadel, or buying artifacts. If you are a general you also have to buy some summoning idols to create your army. The access to citadel upgrades are limited on the war level which is dictated by the time you have flags.
The character skill tree has probably 30-40 skills and you have a maximum level of 20 so you can have different people playing the same demi god with totally different strategies and builds.
Games are typically around 15 - 30 minutes, but a big map with good players could see it go an hour or so. Some maps allow you to use favor items which are based on the number of achievement points or how many favor points you have earned during the persistent online tournament, but this is only one item and all other things are reset at beginning of the match.
The maps are about the right size and you can teleport from any location to a object owned by your side in a few seconds so group communication is not terribly needed. Honestly this game could have used voice chat, but right now it has text like Warcraft/Starcraft. With larger maps it might be a useful feature, but I don't see how Vent would not work for clans right now.
Initial load times seem a bit long, but the graphics are nice and quite smooth once in the game. Can be tweaked quite a bit with resolutions and effects levels.
The game only does one thing, but it does it very well. Will need more time to figure out the favorite demigod, but I would probably give it 4.5 out of 5 until I get more time online and see how much of a community builds.
