EverQuest Update

Post by Turaylon Soulshadow »

I'm sure you've all read things about what has been ging on without our former beloved pasttime, but seeing it for myself made it that much worse. Was over a friend's house the other day, and to my surprise he was 4 boxing on EverQuest. The game we all once loved has turned into a clusterfuck, WoW Lite if you will. No more epic journeys just to retrieve a corpse. Most zones are empty. There is no challenge left in the game. The grueling 10+ grind sessions are a thing of the past, and although it may seem great that gaining experience faster is a good thing, it takes the character and value of the game and throws it out the window. Fellowship camps, mercenaries and respawning with all of your gear, among other things, ruined the flavor and prestige of what was considered to be the most difficult MMO out there. Reaching the level cap used to be a HUGE accomplishment, and now it's just a few hours away.

It crushes me to see something we all spent years working on turn into a total noobfest.
I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my ass.

I was over at a friends house a couple weeks ago and had the same experience. He told me you can get a character from level 1 to level 60ish in only a couple hours...

All good things must come to an end. For me the changes from EQ1 to EQ2 aren't that bad, because it was a new game, but to have to witness those same features in EQ1 and knowing how it used to be would be sad. I like to talk to people in channels, and when they complain I like to start off with "Back in MY day we had "corpse runs" " and generally other people start to chime in, old time EQ'rs FTW

EQ1 died when WoW and EQ2 assraped the server population, and thus the communities died. Everything else has been a slow bleed.

In all honesty EQ1 was not the hardest MMO out there.....by all accounts leveling in Lineage I and II was an order of magnitude harder.

Not to mention the endgame in FFIX was just insane.
