Voluntary doesn't bother me. A judge ordering it? Only the slightest little bit, but I have a hardball view when it comes to sex offenders. It's worse than murder to me, especially if it involves children. I only worry about the poor teens with underage girlfriends, but I would think Europe treats them differently than the U.S.

Oh no, never. Because women need not equal rights, but greater rights than men! And the potential babies in their ovaries are most important! They should be impregnated yearly so to produce more offspring for Christ's army!

Should women sex-offenders have their ovaries (and I should probably include the uterus, since it can host life even with out the ovaries) removed?

Hosting life isn't the issue. The sexual urges are the issue. Voluntarily, yes. I am still on the fence about a judge ordering it.

I'm on the fence about it for male and female. Though I fully support voluntary. However, I am leaning waaaay to one side of that fence.

If they truly can't control their urges then they fit the definition of insanity and lose their rights, so in those cases I have no more qualms about castration than I do about any other involuntary treatment of the criminally insane in attempts to make them fit for society. If they can control their urges then I'm against any sort of judge ordered mutilation.

Lobotomies? Probably not so common now, but they certainly keep a lot so pumped up on anti-depressants and the like that they may as well have done the same thing.

Would removal of the ovaries actually result in a lower sex drive ? I mean I assume it would hence hormone therapies for women who'd have hysterectomies. This is kind of a throw back to the death penalty thread in my mind, although I agree that sex offenders are worse then murderers. I don't know that I agree with the judge ordering it, but I could live with it. Voluntary castration ? Absolutely !

They wouldn't force them to go through a surgery. There is such a thing as chemical sterilization and who better to use it on than criminals?

Sterilization does not work, and I don't know why people keep pushing this idea. Removing the sex organ will not remove the hate or the need to inflict punishment. We had these laws in the 1910's and 20's too, you know.

I agree with that, but wouldn't sterilization be a good start ? Medications maybe along with ? Lobotomies ? I dunno ...
