a modified no call list
I just wish we could make a ..dont fucking call me at all list.
I mean really. .what right does any bastard have to call me and peddle shit. I dont care if youre part of the f.o.p. or the tiny midgets need dick extensions or any other shit in the middle. Why waste your time with me, if I put on there, dont fucking call me. you will get hung up on. period.
I had some jackass from the Fraternal order of Po lice act like he was my long lost friend when the wife called. I get woken up ( I work nights) to a good friend named ..Arthur. I am thinking to myself. the only arthur I know is some guy back in my highschool/college days so I take it with some excitement. "Hi Mr Mukik, this is Arhur with the fraternal order of 5.0. " I told him to back up an fuck his own face, hit end and threw the phone. This shit has got to stop.
These bastards dont pay our phone bills and they sure the hell dont give is breaks or charge more to make us less likely to be called. its my phone, I pay its bill and why the hell should some asshat be able to just call it to peddle some bullshit that I really dont give 2 shits about
I think there should be a samuel jackson no call list. no call means motherfucking dont call me you motherfuckers.

Abandon your land line and switch to cell phone only. Have you ever gotten one of those calls on your cell phone? You haven't have you?

I have, and I've never signed up for anything with my cell either. I got a shitload of campaign calls to it, as well as the random salesperson every now and then.Klast Brell wrote:Abandon your land line and switch to cell phone only. Re: a modified no call list
I have had calls on my cell. Usually about some car insurance thing. I laugh since I don't have a car...
I wouldn't be rude to the caller. In this economy, a job is a job and they probably hate it but need it. Would you want to have to dial a number knowing that you're pretty much about to be verbally abused? It's the organizations that choose to advertise this way that need a cursing out.

I usually kindly inform them that my number is on the federal don't call list and they need to cease and desist. I never get another call.

That's weird. I have never had a single unsolicited call on my cell phone in the 10 years that I've had it. Maybe some of you gave your cell number to some business who sold their database to a marketer?

I don't remember doing something like that, but it must be something like that. What carrier do you have Select? Maybe Verizon whores out numbers or something.Klast Brell wrote:That's weird. Re: a modified no call list
Our family pretty much all use Verizon (we have a family member that works for them) and never get any sales calls. I've liked their service here, calls don't drop, the bars are good. The only unsoliciated thing I've rec'd were threatening messages & then booty call texts to the girl that had my number before me.Klast Brell wrote:That's weird. It was kind of funny, one girl left a long message bitching out "Trisha" about staying away from her man or she was going to get a restraining order. It was hilarious, she didn't even leave her number so ....poor gal, doesn't know Trisha won't hear her speech.

The first one I yelled fuck off already I am on a no call list ( working nights I was pissed off to be woken up by a telemarketer. yea you can argue about turning off my phone, but thats the operative pronoun. MY phone. call number 2 I went off but followed procedure and this morning I got call number three. I said to the lady..look, I dont care about protecting my ID..my damn credit sucks so bad, if someone stole it, they may do me a favor. Write down my number xxx-xxx-xxxx and staple it to your supervisors forehead. Yes, like in get smart. thanks..have a good one

Re: a modified no call list
It's not the person doing the calling who's the asshole. They don't know you're asleep and it's not their fault their company is telling them to call you. If they say something assholeish to you, then yea, go off, but cut them some slack. I've been called when I was sleeping from after an all-nighter, when I was asleep and while working full time, and when I was bedridden from the bad spinal tap - we've all been called when we don't want to be. Some compassion for the poor suckers who need the money won't kill ya.

Re: a modified no call list
It will be your bank calling you. People with an existing business relationship are permitted to call - all you have to do (usually) is specifically ask for your number to be removed from their calling lists. Cold callers won't call a cellphone, so it has to be a company you're already associated with.

Re: a modified no call list
I am on the do not call registry (you can enter your number online.) I've never gotten a call. I have a cell phone.
I added my parents number for them (landline) and they will still get things from the Salvation Army asking for clothing. They did get a few political calls, but nothing more.
The calls the absolutely fucking piss me off to no end are the ones where you get an automated voice saying,
"please hold for the next available customer service representative."
I was 3 weeks out of the hospital after having the wee one. And it's bad enough that you get shit for sleep during that first month. Well, some asshole system calls my phone and tells me, "Please hold for the next available blah blah." THEY called ME and want ME to hold. Using MY minutes.
I hung up the first dozen times, but one day after getting no sleep and being a bitch on wheels, I waited until I got an operator. I waited 45 fucking minutes.
Operator, "yes, is this Jose Marquez?"
Me: "Does this SOUND like Jose Marquez?"
Operator: "Does Jose Marquez live there?"
Me: "No."
Operator: "Are you sure?"
Me: "Am I SURE? Are you kidding me?" (Yes, I store and collect Hispanic males, then forget about them, jackhole.)
Operator: "Is this number xxx-xxx-xxxx?"
Me: "That's the one you called."
Turns out, it was a credit card company trying to track down Jose. I told them that they called ME 6 fucking times and wanted me to wait. That I had a newborn that I just got to sleep one day, and their asshole system called and woke her up. I think I bitched for a good 5 minutes. They vowed to change the information.
Next day. Same thing. I again waited to talk to someone. "Oh, it's Saturday, our system takes all week-end to update. The information won't be entered until then." Thankfully, it was a three-day week-end, so I had to wait until Tuesday to stop getting calls from fucknuts credit card company and their flaming assholes of shittiness.
I was so mad. Just typing this makes me angry, SO ANGRY. GRROWL! I need to go have me some ANGRY sex.

I receive calls, on my cell phone, for Donna someone or other. I never answer cause it's a Delaware number (not that i don't live 5 miles away from the state but still) and it's not MY bank calling about my car payment, so i wait for the messages. Apparently ole Donna (and mind you i've had this cell number for 2 years now) has a car financed through GMAC. I am assuming more and more that it's a lease, however they have called Donna at work, and they have spoken to her boss. Apparently they've also spoken TO her somewhere along the way because then they called to inform her she hadn't come up to fill out paperwork as promised. Apparently she moved, AND had turned off the GPS on the car because they wanted her to bring the car in immediately or they were going to take legal action. Then i didn't hear anything for 2 weeks or so... now they're calling her again. I also get calls on my cell phone from Rent a Center, they still have the woman (not Donna) who had the cell number before me as a contact for some woman's THREE daughters, who ALL owe money and items to rent a center. Finally i called Rent a Center one day and i informed them i'd opened an account with the exact same phone number, which they also felt the need to call me about, several months ago, therefore the number couldn't POSSIBLY be a good way to reach this other woman OR HER THREE DAUGHTERS and if they didn't stop calling me about her i was going to come down there and smack someone.... god it annoys me. They assured me they'd change the info at RAC then promptly called me 5 minutes later, i started screaming again. They finally stopped. When i went into RAC last time i took them their laptop back and informed then i'd bought a desktop and i would no longer be requiring their services. They said ok, and call me once a week to ask me do i want the laptop back.
and i get calls on my cell phone. My parents only use their phone to MAKE calls, good luck getting them to pick up a call at their house, i added my numbers and theirs to the do not call list.... /call list fail

Re: a modified no call list
Like hell they won't. I've been told prefix digits have been interchangeable between landline and cell numbers for a while now, as a result of people getting cells and keeping their old number. I used to have a cell with the prefix set 598, and I knew people with landlines that used the same set. I also know other people with cell numbers that use it. In some cases, there's just no way for the companies to know the difference.Cold callers won't call a cellphone
I've recieved cold calls on my cell. Most of it was during election season, but I've also recieved calls about auto insurance, homeowner's insurance (I've never owned a house), the factory warranty on my car expiring (I bought my car used...there was no factory warranty, and yes they asked for me by name), people collecting money for various charities, as well as countless other bullshit.
The worst? I got a fucking text message from an online credit repair agency. At midnight. This was about three days ago.

Yeah, those are the worst too. I have no idea how I got on (or how to get off) of their list. It's probably just a ploy by the phone-companies to force people into buying unlimited text plans. lulconspiracyJarochai Alabaster wrote:The worst? Re: a modified no call list
It's pain in the ass, but here's what you do.
If you get an unsolicited call, immediately ask to be escalated. Ask for any type of identification from the supervisor. Get the mailing address of the company. If the supervisor doesn't give it to you, you'll need to spend some time tracking it down. Then inform the supervisor that you intend to file a complaint with the FTC for violation of the Do Not Call List regulations, and that you are sending a letter to the President/CEO of the company informing them of that, and you'll be sure to mention the supervisors name in the letter.
And then do it.
Why you people think that yelling at some minimum wage telemarketer or collector is going to get you anywhere is beyond me, especially if they keep calling and nothing changes. They don't care. But the CEO certainly doesn't want the FTC to come calling over your account. He or she isn't really worried about your account, he/she is worried about all the other accounts the FTC will identify as on the no-call list, and he/she is worried about the subsequent multi-thousand dollar fines that result from those violations.

Re: a modified no call list
Got my first cell phone when I was working for Qwest. Had that for 3 or 4 years. Then I went to Cingular /AT&T for 3 or 4 years. For the last 2 years I have been with T-Mobile. (Got the Android AKA G1 AKA Google phone a few month ago. I love it) In all that time with those different companies I have never received a cold call.
When I turned on my very first cell phone for the first time it rang almost right away. "Is this Wells Fargo home mortgage?" I tell them wrong number and hang up. A minute later it rings again. Another person looking for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. In the next 15 minutes I counted 17 calls for Wells Fargo. The twin cities had recently split area code 612. Wells Fargo must have gotten it's area code changed, and I was the lucky punk who got their old number when it got recycled. I called Qwest and explained the problem to them. Got the number changed.
About a year later I start getting calls for some woman. The calls come in about once a week. Every time I tell them it's the wrong number. Eventually I got bored and started telling callers that she had died.

Heh, my work line, which is forwarded from an Orange County (714) number, is one digit off from a hotel. It used to be irritating but now I have fun with it:
"I'd like to complain about my room."
"From the tone of your voice I'm thinking that you complain way too much about everything."
"Can I speak with your supervisor?"
"No. Even if I had one, I wouldn't let you talk to him/her."
