Watchmen
Read Watchmen last week, because I really wanted a preview to what this movie is based off of.
After reading it I fail to understand how they'll make it into an acceptable movie.

Re: Watchmen
Im just waiting to lul at the pissed off hot-topic kids who end up figuring out that the movie is less dark and epic (as the Smashing Failkins overdubbed trailer) made this movie out to be.

Re: Watchmen
1) Dr. Manhattan tends to go into these time line things (In 1959 I'm blah blah, the photo will lay at my feet in 12 seconds, in 1985 blah blah, in 1963 blah blah) and just jumps around a ton. I understand the guy is super intelligent and can see everything that happens throughout time, but its something that will have to be cut out or trimmed down (but is also pretty critical to his character).Taxious wrote:why this?Fallakin Kuvari wrote:After reading it I fail to understand how they'll make it into an acceptable movie.
2) The comic within the comic concept would become a comic movie within a comic movie concept and thus might just utterly confuse some people. Its tied pretty closely to the morality lesson within the movie, thus I don't think it'd be wise to cut it.
3) And then the ending chapter, which was pretty much a total mind fuck.
Theres just so much going on in this comic series that I don't see how it can translate well to film. We'll see on 3/6, but I'm skeptical.

Re: Watchmen
They would not be able to fit the whole thing in to a 90 minute movie. They will cut out a ton of things. Change a ton of other things to make it cool for a more general audience. Simplify things so kids can understand them. If you go in expecting a shot for shot recreation of the comic you will be disappointed. If you go in expecting a different version of the story told in a different style you will probably have a good time. Think of it like a punk rock cover of a country song. If you expect it to sound the same as the original you will not be satisfied.

I didn't have faith in the movie being any good before reading the comic. After reading it, theres so much going on their that theres no way the movie can compare... It also doesn't surprise me that Alan Moore had his name pulled off the movie.Klast Brell wrote:They would not be able to fit the whole thing in to a 90 minute movie. Even when they scale it down, I highly doubt that it'll be remotely as entertaining.

Hey, I like Mellon Collie - that's as far as I go with S.P.
I'm just angsty over hollywood jazzing everything up in a trailer to make movies look alot more epic/deep/dark/etc than they really are

Re: Watchmen
I have the book, but was specifically told not to read it until I see the movie because I'll ruin the movie by doing so. *shrug* Going to see it Friday so we'll see.
