Slumdog Millionaire
I loved this movie. Absolutely loved it... and yet, I can't believe I paid someone so I could cry for two hours. Well, okay not sob-cry, but I got teary A LOT which I normally resent in a movie. I don't like being emotionally pinged around in movies, but this was worthy.
I loved the characters, the story, the cinematography, the humor, the pain, even the credits & Bollywood-style dance at that end that took away the emotional edge of the whole ride.

I saw it on Sunday with Mrs Klast. We loved it as well. From the previews I didn't expect it to be so sad. The dance during the credits was a great counterbalance that left us walking out of the movie laughing and smiling.

Same here! I thought it was going to be the "feel-good" movie of the year and 1 hour and 45 minutes of it certainly weren't. I really did appreciate them tossing in the dance at the end, because it allowed me to leave the theater laughing instead of sniveling.Klast Brell wrote:I saw it on Sunday with Mrs Klast. My wife is a Bollywood junky Bride and Prejudice is one of her favorite movies.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361411/
It's a wonderful adaptations of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.
And Lalita Bakshi is not unpleasant to look at.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire
Hey, I saw Bride & Prejudice, it was a really cute movie. The Indian actors were great/funny/charming, but man that American guy was GOD awful (he was so NOT a Mr. Darcy), then I remembered where I saw him before and it was in The Ring...he blew in that too.

Well deserved win my Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, imo... I recently caught up on that series and I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it.

Saw Slumdog Millionaire this weekend, and really liked it. I don't know what I was expecting, but I'm glad I went to see it. From what Harlowe wrote, I was expecting to QQ a little, but it definitely wasn't that bad...

Dude, I get misty picking out greeting cards for loved ones when they seem particularly fitting. So....you know, take that into consideration when I say something makes me cry. I blame the asshole-yet-sentimental Irish in me.

Sorry I can't relate to shitting in a wooden hut when I paid $10 to sit in an AC'ed theater for 2 hours...Harlowe wrote:Though if you didn't even start to get choked up the entire time, you are dead inside.
Just kidding of course, but yeah, there were some pretty sad parts. The thing with his mom probably got me the worst.

It's a female thing. You were born with ovaries. Hormones will fick you over every time, no matter what your rational mind has to say about it. You can't just toss out 200,000 years of genetic programming.Harlowe wrote:Dude, I get misty picking out greeting cards for loved ones when they seem particularly fitting. Who here wants to bet that Harlowe, if and when she decides to have kids, will be the BEST Soccer mom evah?!?!?!
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire
Bite your tongue Embar.
God, I got fucking teary like 3 times at Man of La Mancha, especially when Don Quixote, Dulcinea or the cast sang "The Impossible Dream". It didn't help that I was in the front row, the guy playing Don Quixote was amazing and a girlfriend of mine was in the play (prisoner & a moorish dancer).
I hate that I can not even psyche myself out of it once it starts.

Pretend it's the forums and we're the actors. Though, you'll probably end up yelling obscenities instead.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire
I'm thinking Harlowe will soon start to see the magical attractiveness of minivans. The word "palydate" will make her coo with happiness. Seriously, she will actually coo. Make the noise and everything.

The word "palydate" made me think of MMO playdates.
I agree with Embar. Harlowe, if you're as classic Irish as you say you are, you're gonna get big and pop out a whole buncha kids.

We don't have a single fatty in our family. Not even the all-Irish side - big boobs, but that's about it. I'm not worried.
