Terminator: Sarah Connors

Post by superwalrus »

I'm still giving this one a chance. They need to take a page from BSG and realize that good sci-fi shows can become great sci-fi shows when you really play up the human interaction and only use the science stuff as a background. The addition of Brian Austin Green was a mistake, that guy will forever be that guy from 90210 no matter what he does. They chould have chosen among half a dozen B to D-list actors and it would have been great. The River Terminator story is developping nicely but I wonder how long "oh its quaint the way she interacts with humas as a robot" is going to last on me.

They have the overlying story arc, stopping Skynet, but they are going to need to introduce some shorter story arcs to keep my attention. Any thoughts?

It's still possible to make this good, but I don't have high hopes though. At best I think they are going to make it "just another show". The storyline has enormous potential, the problem is I think they are trying to play to the wrong crowd (being the mindless zombies who couldn't care as long as shit is blowing up) or they just aren't putting enough thought into the writing of the show. I personally would love it if they got some really deep thinking writers and truly tried to take on trying to write from the robots aspect of trying to understand humans like they did in T2 (which I thought they did a great job in).

I don't like the Sarah Conners role. Sorry but just not badass enough. The Sarah Conner from the movie's / storyline was willing to sacrifice everyone and everything to protect her son and the future. I mean if you know that 98% of the worlds population is going to be die anyway, and the only way the species had any chance was to protect this one kid, and even more so had the opportunity to stop the whole thing from happening by blowing away a few (now) innocent people.... you're doing it. Especially after having gone through the shit they had already had. She was pretty fuckin hard in T2 man and the TV one is just too wimpy. Again though, this is probably mostly because of the audience they are playing to. Weak if you ask me.

Not much can be said for the John Conner role. He's a whiney rebellious pussy. Pretty much like he was in T2. How this fruitcake leads anyone in an apocalyptical war against machines is beyond me. Of course he is turning into Christian Bale (Fucking Sweet!) for the 4th movie so at some point his balls are going to have to drop.

Cameron (Female Terminator) is awesome. As she is in everything. Super fucking hot. Seems to have put on just a tiny bit of weight that she really needed to turn her from cute into a babe, but she's 26 years old now, so its about time. I actually do think she's a pretty good actor, not just hot. She did a flip role in The 4400 that was good too. One of the main reasons I hope this show doesn't flop is because she may end up with the curse of Adam Baldwin. Firefly cancelled, 4400 cancelled, ect. But who knows, maybe if she does she'll go into porn! We can all hope.

As far as Brian Austin Green goes, the way his character started out I thought he was going to pull it off. Was actually playing a hardened solider fairly well... but the stupid dramatic bullshit story had to kick in and turn him all "Where's my brother, I wanna see Conner, waa waa fucking waa" so you may be right. These actors who got typecast into roles where they are boy bitches need to take some tactics from the Wahlberg brothers. If you get thrown into that category don't do anything but play super badass mofakka roles. If you can make it outta that typecast then you'll be open to all kinds of stuff. Poor David... LOL

There are now five Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Minute.

Preach on, bruthuh!
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

She doesn't seem as badass as Linda Hamilton's version, but in T2, Linda Hamilton couldn't kill Miles Dyson (the scientist who purportedly began the whole Skynet/shebang.) She had her gun at his head and she couldn't do it. Could have been because his wife and son were there, who knows.

Maybe having a few years of peace (w/o terminators on their asses) softened her up a bit. She couldn't kill the guy who made Turk, the chess-playing program. Kyle's brother had to do it.

She also couldn't kill the dude who she had originally gone to for passports, who she thought might have turned her in (Cameron did it for her.)

I imagine it would be "too much" for television. Having a robot do all the killing and dirty work gives it justification in a sense.

And yeah, the writing seems a bit neat and tidy right now. I want some meat with my potatoes.

I also agree that Brian Austin Green started out as an interesting character and the last episode was just too disjointed and lagging for me to feel much empathy for him at all. Though it was cool to see the time-travel teleportation device.

We'll see what happens. It's on Fox, so unless they shoot serious ratings fire out their asses, it'll get axed like Firefly. Which is too bad. Fox was built on "workhorse" shows like The X-Files that gained a rather nice (though not extraordinary) cult following.

My favorite part of T2: Judgement Day is when Edward Furlong throws the knife over to the Terminator while they're at the black dudes house. He continues to scar them for life by cutting the skin off his own arm.

I'm gonna show that scene to my firstborn when they're 4.

I love that scene. Arnie is badass.

No wonder he's governor of California.

I just saw the first episode of this last night, and I agree with Minute on all accounts. The opening scene, Sarah comes out dressed like a school girl with a tiny skirt on. WTF?! Way to shatter everything I knew about a character from 2 movies in 10 seconds...

I actually ended up turning it off because I was getting so frustrated. There were at least 3 times where 90210 could have easily killed John/Sarah but he takes too long being dramatic about it. That was one of the great concepts of the Terminator series, machines have no remorse and are about efficiency in killing. WTF? It feels like every scene is going to turn into a pr0n movie. Everyone is too caked in makeup and "hot" outfits to be believable.

Opps, I've never seen 90210 and assumed he was the "bad" terminator. Turns out he comes into the show later on as the "father figure" to John. It's annoying that they turned the Connor family into the "American-dream" family structure.

I don't mind Austen-Green (dude from 90210--not sure I spelled his name correctly.) Anyway, I dig the show, but I had crappy expectations. I dig Summer Glau and that's all I need.

John is such a whiny little motherfucker, though. He needs to get over the Luke Skywalker, "but I want to go to space school" panty-waist shit and grow the hell up.
