Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Re: Eagle Eye
For some reason I can't bring myself to hate her the way so others do. I just feel sad for her. Addictions are awful things. I quit smoking 3 years ago and I still get cravings for cigarettes nearly every day. And I cant even say that I've kicked them for good. If my wife died, or something terrible like that, I would be back on the smokes in a heart beat. Some people can kick their habits easily. Good for them. Some people struggle, and some can't do it at all. I knew a college psychology professor who was brilliantly intelligent, but could not beat his alcoholism. In the end he died of liver failure.

Re: Eagle Eye
IMO she looks like she's had a baby (for those of us who went from A cups to D cups and back to B cups) when it comes to the boobs... they're not cute or perky IMO, they're... deflated looking. She doesn't need implants tho, just a lift and they'd probably look fine

Re: Eagle Eye
Addictions are awful things, but in the U.S. and the U.K., the risks are known, the consequences are known. I'd feel bad if she was stricken with a disease she couldn't control. But this? Dumbass. Moron. Idiot. Consequences are consequences, she damn well knew what she was getting into. People either think they're immune or they "don't want to hear it". Drug and smoking information is more readily available to young adults than sex education is. There isn't an excuse - They were abused? Life was hard? They're escaping? Well, their life sure won't get better on this path. It's a trap they've set for themselves.
Yes, there is much hatred for it, but there's hatred for a lot of stupid decisions. Just 'cause the consequences hurt doesn't mean everyone will want to baby you.

Dats hawt!
I don't hate Amy Winehouse by any means and I doubt most people do, she's a comically tragic figure. I don't feel sorry for her either though. As far as drug abuse goes, I don't feel sorry for selfish junkies at all. They destory not only their own lives but pull people down around them. I do feel sorry for the families and loved ones of junkies.
Smoking isn't even in the same ballpark as drug abuse. People don't lie, cheat, steal and abuse others over a pack of Marlboro's ...well maybe in jail.

Re: Eagle Eye
People lie about smoking. Some have a smoke and lie about it so someone they care about won't be disappointed. And a lot of teenagers who shouldn't be smoking in the first place steal smokes, or money from their folks.Harlowe wrote:Smoking isn't even in the same ballpark as drug abuse. Re: Eagle Eye
Some people turn into monsters from withdrawal when trying to quit. I doubt much abuse would be physical, but emotional and verbal is still abuse.and abuse others
I think it's in the same ballpark, just drugs are way out in the field.

I think it's a reach to say junkies and smokers are anywhere near the same ballpark.

Re: Eagle Eye
I do think there is a difference, but I will say that I think cigarettes are far more addicting (long term) than most street drugs out there.
I used to live in a pretty bad part of town. We would go to the grocery store every day and see the line out the door, full of people there to pick up welfare checks, disability checks. They would get the money, turn around and buy smokes. They had to have their precious cigarettes. The people next door couldn't afford baby formula or diapers, but they never, EVER went without cigarettes. They barely ate, but they had their cigarettes. They had no gas for the car, but always a cigarette.
While I don't see people prostituting themselves for a pack of cigarettes, I think the addiction is far more reaching, far more intertwined in every day life/activity. Eat a meal. Smoke. Get in the car. Smoke. Have sex. Smoke. Get up in the morning. Smoke.
My husband finally quit because he realized that he's paying someone (tobacco company) to kill him. I guess that woke him up. And I see how hard it is for him. He's had to fight not only the nicotine addiction, but the addiction to the rituals that come with it.

Re: Eagle Eye
You can smoke and keep a steady job, pay your bills, have healthy relationships and be responsible - junkies can do none of that.
I hate smoke, I don't like being around smokers, but I've never seen people not functional over them...until they get lung cancer, but people do a lot of unhealthy things killing themselves. I don't really see food-addicts that kill themselves with the crap they put into their bodies and lack of exercise compared to street junkies.
