Being a person of faith, I certainly share my condolences with the Obama/Dunham families. They have suffered a loss, and for that my heart hurts for them. I can only hope they're able to find solace in their love for one another and their memories of Ms. Dunham.
You don't have to support Obama to show kindness for your fellow man.
As for making her a spectacle, that is for Obama's heart to decide. He eulogized her well, in my estimation. People from that era did survive so much, and have offered us much insight on the times to come. We can just hope Obama, should he become president, truly *did* learn from her life experiences.

Coming from the person that went into hysterics over one or two people being less than respectful about Reagan's death and did a grand exit from this board because of comments Klast made, that is really rich.Trollbait wrote:Lurker and Harlowe are being a couple of drama queens.
Is it sad that his grandma died? Yes.
Is it sad that he inserts her as a political tool even now? Yes.
Is it sad that Harlowe and Lurker go into hysterics at any hint of political motivations in Obamas words? Yes.
You people are silly.
Yes you are. You are an example of the freeper fringe that is intolerant, hateful and ignorant.I am by no means an example of people in the Republican party.

Agreed. Thanks for that Tarfang.Lurker wrote:Well said.Tarfang wrote:He eulogized her well, in my estimation. With that I am not going to engage in anymore petty arguing over someone's death and the appropriateness or motives of the response of the person that lost that loved one.
Have at it, if you wish. Nothing is going to spoil my mood today. I had a wonderful experience voting with other family members and neighbors. I went at the same time I always do for elections and the line was amazing. Two blocks longer than it normally is and the voter registration area packed the entire time. People were all upbeat and friendly (every other election it's been quiet and somber, seriously) there were a lot of high school/college students excited about voting in their first election. All in all, it was the most positive election experience ever. The process was also very smooth, so kudos to our local election officials for that.

I wish I could've waited in line and had that interaction, but our whole county is vote by mail only. I voted a week ago, so now we wait for the rest of the country to catch up.
What an exciting day!

Yep! The wife and I put our votes in over lunch. Given we're in a small community, we knew almost everyone in there, but nonetheless it was nice as always to cast the vote. It was sure hard passing on the box for "Barr" though!
Maybe in another 4 years...
Anyway, glad to hear it's going smoothly in other areas. I'm sure we'll still have a few "OMGZ RECOUNT!" states.
::Edit to add:: BTW - how was the "younger" vote looking for you guys? I saw and heard of a LOT of first time voters making it out this year. That, folks, is exciting!

Pfft. She had it in her will to be sold out for the campaign. Grandma's gotta do what Grandma's gotta do for her baby to win
