That is a pretty grim assessment. I don't think we will see a Mormon or former Hindu standard bearer for the Republican party in the near future and Barbour just cannot be the image candidate that the party needs in 2012, his appearance and background dredges up images of Wallace. Although Jindal and Romney would be good candidates, the GOP will likely find some nit wit like Palin to represent them.

It's funny, but I kind of felt sorry for her. I totally blame her handlers for this - they should be thoroughly checking out people before just handing the phone over and saying "oh hae here iz diplomatz 4 u". She was pretty good-natured about the whole thing, and as much as I can't stand the woman, I think it was unnecessarily mean-spirited and tacky.

With that said, I enjoy picking on her for the things she says, I think there is a wealthy of comedy in that.
