Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Post by Select »

As the title says, he's doing it. I think it's the perfect story for his style. It's also full of lots of stripes (Chesire Cat)

I'm looking forward to it, but it's a 2010 production so it's going to be awhile. The only person I would have rather seen Alice in Wonderland directed/produced by is Guillermo del Toro.

I can agree with that. Between Toro and Burton, it's do you want a creepier Alice or a more fantastical Alice? On the topic of creepy Alice, what is it the goth kids like to pretend? Malice in Wonderland?

Yep, Malice. I think they turn all children's stories into Hot Topic merchandise.

Alice the computer game was always good imo. It was more like Alice in Acidland but that was half the appeal. I still have it and I play it on occasion.

I'm excited about this movie. I'm a huge Tim Burton fan and I don't think I'll be disappointed by this.

Del Toro is going to be shooting The Hobbit.....he has no time for silly Alice and her looking glass.

I still want to see Del Toro and Brian Froud team up. Imagine the fantasy epic that would produce. :D

I'm sorry, but I'm sick of Tim Burton.

Oh look, Johnny Depp playing a sinister and/or whacky character.

Oh look, Helena Bonham Carter.

Oh look, Danny fucking Elfman music (cue the bassoon and the tuba please.)

Oh yeah! stripes! everywhere!

Let me guess: more crooked houses, more asymmetry.

Blah blah blah BLAH BLAH.......................................................

Thing is, he usually does well. I'm just Burton'ed out. Seriously.

I'm with ya Alluveal. I think I'm more "over" the rabid Burton fans.

Harlowe thinking she's better than other people, imagine that...

Some of my friends are really into Burton movies and I feel like I'm always missing something because I've never enjoyed his stuff.

I was agreeing with Alluveal, yet you just go after me? Typical.

Being annoyed by rabid fans isn't feeling superior, it's being annoyed. Drama queen.

Also, people really into or liking something - aren't rabid fans.

I guess you are right, you probably are better than other people. Sorry for bringing it up.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually agree with Alluveal.

Goth kids are just plain dumb.

Tury, who woulda thunk? :)

And yeah, I don't get the hard-core Burton fans, either. They're kind of like the really intense sci-fi con fans.

Burton should stop mangling other peoples' stories. Even then, he probably should have quit after Edward Scissorhands, as that's the best movie he's ever done. He's had a couple mildly interesting films, but that's about it.

Burton is the man... but, he does drop the occasional stinker. Actually, that's all he's done lately. Batman Returns was probably my favorite of his, with Big Fish being a close second.

His style is way too forced and abstract. He's created a genre of repititious obscurity that serves as the mainstream norm for 'dark'. I appreciate it's entertainment value - but if I want dark, I'll stick with Lynch. I hate that corpse bride black lipstick shit.

Oh, and --

Casting Depp as the mad hatter is retarded. There's so many people who were born for that role.

Gene Wilder
Christopher Lloyd
Tim Blake Nelson
etc.

I thought Big Fish was really good as well. I really like his stark settings, I've just seen him do the same application over and over and, it's though it's far from awful, I'd just like to see him do something more.
