Again I ask......where is your critique of Joe Biden?Harlowe wrote:She reduced wholly ridiculous earmarks to lesser ridiculous earmarks. Isn't that giving someone a smaller shit sandwich? It's still a shit sandwich.
She had no choice but to not build the bridge, it wasn't being fully funded. She did however keep the money.

Everything there is a lie as I pointed out previously. I don't see any need to keep restating the same thing over and over. She told Congress nothing.Kulaf wrote:"I championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. In fact, I told Congress -- I told Congress, 'Thanks, but no thanks,' on that bridge to nowhere. If our state wanted a bridge, I said we'd build it ourselves."
Nothing in there is a lie.
Biden isn't lying, but if you just want to focus on amounts (total or per capita, take your pick) he's also not as big a porker as Palin.Kulaf wrote:Again I ask......where is your critique of Joe Biden?
It is amazing watching your posting style, Kulaf. Rsak avoids honest debate by trying to narrow focus to something irrelevant, and you avoid debate by endlessly expanding focus. Different tactics to achieve the same results.

Ha! I just noticed how fucking stupid this comment was. Yeah, telling Congress thanks for the money but no thanks for the bridge is exactly the message she's trying to get across to voters. What a tool.Kulaf wrote:So her actions told Congress 'Thanks, but no thanks,'. She thanked them for the money.....but chose not to spend it on the bridge.

Again.......you're applying a literal filter on a statement of effect. The same thing has been said by every politician who ever cast a vote for or against something. How may Dems that voted against a bill sponsored by W ever got in front of a mic and said something like ......and with my vote today I told the President NO on ...... Are we supposed to assume after they voted they went out and picked up a phone and called Bush. Get real. She killed the bridge......she sent a message to her states delegation that she was not interested in more funding for the bridge. She was calling the shots now.....she would let them know what funding she needed help with.Lurker wrote:Everything there is a lie as I pointed out previously. Now there......is a lie. If you add up all of the pork requests by Palin it will pale in comparrison to all of the pork requests put in by porker of the year runner up Joe Biden. But you are right......Biden doesn't lie about it......he's not even ashamed of it. He just blissfully keeps spending money like it's no one elses business.Lurker wrote:Biden isn't lying, but if you just want to focus on amounts (total or per capita, take your pick) he's also not as big a porker as Palin.Kulaf wrote:Again I ask......where is your critique of Joe Biden?

So dramatic.Kulaf wrote:She killed the bridge......she sent a message to her states delegation that she was not interested in more funding for the bridge. She was calling the shots now.....she would let them know what funding she needed help with.
Last try. Facts matter. It has nothing to do with a literal interpretation. She didn't tell Congress anything because they had already washed their hands of it over a year earlier. Her statement ending the project made it clear that she was ending it because Alaska couldn't get more money from Congress. Congress cut her off, not the other way around. Got that?
First, you are conflating earmark requests with actual earmark spending. I guess Palin is just a lot better at getting the pork through Congress than Biden is. Secondly, I'll take the guy not lying about it any day of the week.Kulaf wrote:f you add up all of the pork requests by Palin it will pale in comparrison to all of the pork requests put in by porker of the year runner up Joe Biden. Again....another lie. Congress did not cut her off. The earmark for the project was removed but the money was still sent. There could have been more money coming for the bridge in the future had she chose to continue it but as the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste pointed out.......SHE ENDED THE BRIDGE PROJECT.Lurker wrote:So dramatic.Kulaf wrote:She killed the bridge......she sent a message to her states delegation that she was not interested in more funding for the bridge. LOL.....now you want to try to draw a distinction between requesting an earmark and spending it? There was no more money coming for the bridge. It had become a national joke by then.Kulaf wrote:There could have been more money coming for the bridge in the future
I pointed out the distinction because you conflated the two in your post. You said Biden had more requests than Palin which is true for this year. Then you said Biden "blissfully keeps spending money like it's no one elses business" implying that he spends more than Palin, which is false.Kulaf wrote:LOL.....now you want to try to draw a distinction between requesting an earmark and spending it?

It's not false.....unless you don't think writing a check to a state is "spending money".....in which case we need to go over basic functions of Congress.

I think you need some time away, Kulaf. You are becoming incoherent.Kulaf wrote:It's not false.....unless you don't think writing a check to a state is "spending money".....in which case we need to go over basic functions of Congress.
Yes, writing a check to a state is "spending money". Making an earmark request is not "spending money" because a request is not an approval; no approval no check.
If you want to talk about who "blissfully keeps spending money like it's no one elses business", Palin is spending four times more earmarked money this year than Biden is. And Obama / Biden aren't lying about it like McCain / Palin are. But somehow, in your mind, Biden needs to watch out.

Well you are Partha are truely returning to form. Between you saying earmarks are not spending money and his comment about Democrats being "parrents" who need to be back in charge I am getting that "cradle to the grave" tingle I used to have back in the 70's.

Where did I say that?Kulaf wrote:Between you saying earmarks are not spending money
A request is not an approval. Palin has four times more money than Biden in approved earmarks this year. Palin is spending four times more than Biden this year. I can't say it any simpler than that.

Yeah yer darn right......a request is not an approval........she doesn't have the ability to approve earmarks.......Biden, McCain and Obama do. And one guy has a real clear record on not requesting them.....nor approving them. McCain has it ......well so does Joe but he's on the other side of the coin....not only approving but also gorging at the trough.Lurker wrote:Where did I say that?Kulaf wrote:Between you saying earmarks are not spending money

If Dd wants to pull up my original post, you'll see the only edits made to ANY of my recent posts was when I added in Norquist's name. But nice attempted smear, Kulaf.
And, yeah, if you're mentally defective enough that you keep voting for this set of ideas, you probably DO need 'cradle to the grave' care. With a padded helmet and your very own short bus.

As an Obama supporter I must say that the Democrats in such a tizzy is not helping the cause of getting him elected. I have never seen a party have an election so well in hand just to throw it away in a panic over Caribou Barbie. You need to simmer down.....ignore the fad.......and stay on message.

Actually yer right.....I skipped a post:
"Big Deal. The country needs fixing, GOP-heads. Shut up, sit down, and let the grown ups do their work."
My appologies for not seeing it and thinking you edited it out.
However.......that sentiment is what lost you a lot of base support in the past from Independents......if Obama ebraces that mantra it will happen again.

Re: Palin as Republican VEEP
Well considering he has earmarked Billions over his career in Congress......and continues to increase it yearly, I would think so. Heck in just his short time in Congress Obama has wracked up more than 1 Billion. I would think uncle Joe has at least 10 times that or more.
