As of today's polls it's Obama by 35 electoral votes.
But then again Kerry was up by 40 this time in 2004. He ended up losing by 30.

The difference is electoral-vote doesn't assign partial states based on probability while 538 does, so electoral-vote is giving you the most probable outcome while 538 is giving you the spread.

Neither of them really tells the picture.....and that is how states are trending. But like I said.....I would wait until after the first few televised debates and then you should see some numbers start to firm up.
