At 39 months in the doghouse, George W. Bush has surpassed Harry Truman's record as the postwar president to linger longest without majority public approval.

Bush hasn't received majority approval for his work in office in ABC News/Washington Post polls since Jan. 16, 2005 — three years and three months ago. The previous record was Truman's during his last 38 months in office.

Congratulations W! No president in modern history has been as unpopular for as long as you.

WASHINGTON — President Bush has set a record he'd presumably prefer to avoid: the highest disapproval rating of any president in the 70-year history of the Gallup Poll.

In a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken Friday through Sunday, 28% of Americans approve of the job Bush is doing; 69% disapprove. The approval rating matches the low point of his presidency, and the disapproval sets a new high for any president since Franklin Roosevelt.

The previous record of 67% was reached by Harry Truman in January 1952, when the United States was enmeshed in the Korean War.

And another record for W! The most unpopular in the history of the poll.

Actually, studying the crosstabs, I'm amazed that the sheer coincidence of the pollsters hitting Fingle, Kulaf, AND Rsak to bring him up that high. I mean, how likely is that?

Not that it matters......but I did not vote for GWB in either election.

And Congress is certainly tearing it up with their whopping 21% approval rating......a whole 3% above the historical low they set Aug of last year.

Ummm pretty damn simple Fobbon. Because the vote was taken at a different time from the survey.

And lets be honest... You really cannot know whether the person running against him would have done any better in survey results.

It's the difference between "Do you like X better than Y" and "Do you like X better than anyone else you can think of".
