I dont like either choice actualy. Both of them are counting on their gender/race to get them in. I do not believe either of them are qualified for the job, although it wouldnt take too much to surpass Georgey in terms of competent leadership. It seems that once again we are being shoveled into another race inbetween the lesser of two evils, the overly liberal choice versus the heir apparent to Bush. I dont believe any of the canidates have the fiscal responsibility to manage our country, and I doubt either of the democratic nominees have the fortitude to stand up against the literal wave of insanity that is gripping the world.

As much as I loathe the Heir Apparent for what he believes, I have to hope that he can stand against the tide. So Mr Mcain will be getting my vote, go figure.

Obama's won the candidacy from what I can see. Clinton now has to decide how much she can deal with a VP spot and if she wants to push for it.

I don't think she'll want it. I think she'll try to become majority leader in the Senate, or run for a governorship. She has a much better chance of surviving politically if she does that, since Obama being elected Prez just ain't gonna happen. All those older and poorer whites ain't gonna vote for the uppity nigga. They'll vote for McCain, who isn't really that conservative anyway.

If I was Hillary, I'd angle for a prime speaking position at the convention, and then work with party insiders to get the senate leader slot. Either that, or run for governor of New York in the next race. I just don't see her tying her political future to Obama.

Getting back to the Middle Class thing. I can appreciate that sociologists group people in to middle class as a group sharing common values, etc. I also see people making substantially different amounts of money are being able to afford different things regardless of their shared values.

I got back from my vacation in San Francisco on Monday. While I was there I saw good examples of what some of you have been mentioning. People who live in a city where the cost of living is much much higher. And even though their houses cost 3 times more than the same house in my city they still had much higher incomes that allowed them to pay for those houses. And along with those higher incomes they also had all the evidence of larger amounts of money for discretionary spending on the things that do not change price depending on your location.

For instance. Everyone had iPhones. Everyone drove nice cars. And I'm not talking about no rust, I'm saying I did not see very many economy cars at all. It was all late model mid-size and up. Everyone dressed in the latest fashions, etc. They just plain had more money.

Living in an expensive city does not make you poorer. it just means you can afford to live in an expensive town.

Right now the worst thing that could happen for the Dems....and I believe I postulated this might happen early on......would be for Obama to win the delegate count.....and Clinton to win the popular vote. After the stink the Dems made about Gores popular vote win.......to hand the condidacy to Obama would be a disaster.

You'd have to be a die-hard Clinton supporter to even care, to be honest, and I don't think the Clinton v Obama thing will split the party anyway except, maybe, in Rush's wet dreams.

Besides, doesn't look like it will happen from the numbers those were reporting anyway. Obama has the nomination wrapped up enough that Clinton isn't going to get the landslide she needs in the remaining states to catch up her deficit.

You know, in all honesty I never even saw the possibility of an Obama-Edwards ticket, but it makes sense. And I think if it happens, Edwards is much more shrewd (or his advisors are) than I gave him credit for. In fact, I think Edwards may have been sitting on the sidelines until he was completely certain of who the nominee would be, just to make a play for VP slot in th e11th hour, and I don't think he really cared if it was Clinton or Obama.

If this is the case, my hat is off to Edwards for a fine political play.
