Re: "Cloverfield"
For all the hype, the monster could've at least been done better. I've had dreams of monsters scarier than this War of the Worlds Strider + Star Wars Rancor

Didn't your mama ever tell you not to tango with a carrot?

Re: "Cloverfield"
What I didn't understand was the video date stamps. It was suppose to be January (1.18.08) and there isn't any snow, people are running around in clothes that would be more fit for Spring or Summer. Also the viral marketing for the people in the movie - their MySpace's stop at 1/18. Unless that is just an homage to the release date and really isn't relevant to the story.
I suppose I can Google an answer to this, but it was something that struck me while watching it.

Re: "Cloverfield"
There's been quite a few January's without snow in New York
We mostly saw the people who were at the party. Skimpy dressing will happen despite the weather at a party. Most of the snow I see in NY is around December. I don't think there's snow there right now... but I haven't called home asking about the weather in a little bit
Heat waves happen too. It looked like a believable NY to me~ Although Central Park being that green at that time... that was iffy.

Re: "Cloverfield"
I heard that you can see something crash into the ocean during one of the ferris wheel clips. I completely missed that and it's driving me nuts. Did any of you catch it? It's supposed to be a split second of footage.

yah those are the rumors, I'm going to see it again to check. Also during or after the credits a clip is played and if you play it backwards it says "its still alive" in a radio transmission type thing.

Re: "Cloverfield"
I saw it this weekend with some friends. We all loved it. I didn't think the monsters were too cheap or anything really. They did a pretty good job with keeping it suspenseful and not making me puke or get frustrated with the camera. I want to go see it again.
9/10 IMO.
