The Native American has been beaten into their place as a 2nd rate citizen. Our 'great' nation took what was theres and rounded them up into segregated territories much like the Japanese citizens during WW2.

You're right, but there's nothing that can be done about it now. That's what annoys me the most - all the compensation, special rules and other idiocy are just creating more of a divide and are going to do nothing at all to heal the damage. It was done. It was wrong. Move on.

Even though Americans attemtped genocide on the native Americans, and today, some tribes define the word poverty, many American Indian tribes are faring better now than ever before, thanks to casinos and land use.

Doesn't excuse the past, for which we should ever be mindful, but at least its something. And now, its kind of ironic how many people want to be identified as american indian, both for the chic, and for the cash. The story of the Pequot tribe is especially interesting.

Behavior usually does not improve when money starts flowing in. The Morongo Indian tribe out East of you, Embar, is an interesting case. You would have to dig pretty deep to find specific information about how the casino has affected the tribe, but it is a similar story to many other tribes who have invested in casinos.
