Before you guys get all huffy about my review, let me say something very important first. The title of this documentary is deceiving. The film is not about how Michael Moore hates America. This film is about a discovery the filmmaker, Michael Wilson, went through while travelling across the country in pursuit of an interview with filmmaker Michael Moore. It is about the difference between making documentary films and propaganda films. It is about the right to debate politics without media bias. It is not conservative or liberal.
I really liked this film. It was a true documentary, unlike what Michael Moore creates. It has some excellent contributors, like Albert Maysles (documentary filmmaker; "Gimme Shelter"), Penn Jillette and David Horowitz. The film starts out going one direction, but quickly evolves into a very interesting disussion about documentary filmmaking, the resilience of people and how information is used for propaganda by television and Hollywood.
The film is very well done, is completely transparent and honest and one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. Some of the footage is superb "you can only achieve this kind of success in America because we are free to choose our path in life" dicussion. The film is very, very well done and very entertaining.
