Re: I was wondering when she...
Looks like they counted a person only once in that study. I don't know about you, but for me trips to the doctor are usually serious enough that it takes three or four trips before treatment (I engage in a lot of recreational activity that results in damaged bones, ligaments, tendons, etc) is finished.
Another way of saying this is.. sure, maybe 70% of the population in Engalnd get to see a doctor, once a year. But that statistic is meaningless when a persone requires more than one trip. And for serious illnesses, a person WILL require more than one trip. Or... as in my previous post, they get fed up and start to self-treat.
Your post is out of context (again), and has little relevance to overall standards of health care between countries (again).

Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Most health stats can be found here: http://www.who.int/whosis/database
Not sure what people want to compare on though.

Re: I was wondering when she...
Embar, can you read? I ask that seriously.
By your logic, that would mean that US citizens wouldn't be allowed to see doctors after the first time - that's patently stupid of you.
So, I ask again...are you SURE you're able to read stuff written in English? Is someone there to help you?
In high-use countries like Germany, Hungary, France, Belgium and Austria, the visit frequency is around 7–8 doctor visits per year, which is twice the number in low-use countries like Finland, Switzerland, Denmark and the United States.
And for serious illnesses, a person WILL require more than one trip.
By your logic, that would mean that US citizens wouldn't be allowed to see doctors after the first time - that's patently stupid of you.
This is even stupider, since the article claims they self treat BEFORE they see a dentist.Or... as in my previous post, they get fed up and start to self-treat.
So, I ask again...are you SURE you're able to read stuff written in English? Is someone there to help you?

They start to self-treat BEFORE they see a dentist because they CAN'T see a dentist in a timely fashion. Do you agree with that or not?Partha wrote: This is even stupider, since the article claims they self treat BEFORE they see a dentist.

This is what you said before:
Well? Are we shifting a few goalposts? And for serious illnesses, a person WILL require more than one trip. Or... as in my previous post, they get fed up and start to self-treat.

Re: I was wondering when she...
I did already. Last page. Do you think me saying "yes, sometimes they can't" again is going to change anything?
Lemme sum up for the home crowd:
Embar thinks 'socialized medicine' is bad. He points to the fact that some people (6%, in one survey) pull their own teeth instead of seeing a dentist (for whatever reason) is proof that it's bad. He doesn't go on to compare it to the number of Americans in a survey who might pull their own teeth instead of seeing a dentist for whatever reason, and he doesn't care to know. Since he has a lack of data but a surefire conclusion he KNOWS must be right (because 'socialized medicine' is bad, aright? Circular logic, sure, but it's all he's got), he refuses to let go of asking his 'GOTCHA' question that was answered last page.
And for the person reading over his shoulder assigned to his care: I don't think his twitching in this case is normal - there may have been a power surge when his drool cup ran over and landed on the power strip. Regardless, you may want to give him medical attention. If he can't afford it, don't worry - I and the other taxpayers will foot the emergency room bill April 15 or so.

Yes, I do, if you're honest about the debate.Partha wrote:I did already. Last page. Do you think me saying "yes, sometimes they can't" again is going to change anything?
When you trty and make an argument that the US health care should move to a socialized medical care system, when those systems are rife with teir own problems, I think its you, not me, that hasn't done their homework. Why would you advocate to move from one imperfect system to another imperfect system? Are you so blinded by your hate of anything American that you can't see how futile something like will be?
For my part, I'd like to see the country move towards an improvement in the current system, instead of jumping on the socialized medical care bandwagon, which again, has its own set of issues.

Re: I was wondering when she...
Oh, this is RICH.
Sorry, nothing changed about THAT argument. Your mojo ain't workin'.
I mean, forget about the fact that in their imperfect system, they live longer, it costs less, and everyone can afford to see a doctor, which they do more often than we do. I guess none of those points are enough for you. After all, I guess you can be broke, uninsured, dying of some treatable malady at an earlier age, but it's OK because Embar doesn't have to dole out a tax dollar. Impressive. If they start handing out free insulin to juvenile diabetics, I'm reasonably sure that you're going to be out on the streets ripping vials from kids' fists, in preparation to sell it on EBay and get your money back.
I'm not sure why you claim I hate Americans, when it seems to be you intent on taking away their educational system and leaving them to die untreated. Other than, of course, your rampant projections.
Countdown to a change in the debate in 4...3...2...1...Yes, I do, if you're honest about the debate.
Wait. Embar is saying that I (the one who, like, actually went and linked up hard data to peruse) 'hasn't done my homework, all the while offering no data of his own, and refusing to offer any I requested so we could have an Honest Debate. When you trty and make an argument that the US health care should move to a socialized medical care system, when those systems are rife with teir own problems, I think its you, not me, that hasn't done their homework.

Yes, after I go burn my American Flags and dance in my lederhosen around a burning effigy of Bush while singing hosannas to my true lord and savior, Hugo Chavez....do you even realize how fucking stupid you sound? Why would you advocate to move from one imperfect system to another imperfect system? Are you so blinded by your hate of anything American that you can't see how futile something like will be?
