just curious as to if any of you tried using it and what your opinions are on it.
ive tried it and a few of the widgets, but find it annoying tha every now and then it causes my system to run slow.

I prefer Konfabulator (aka Yahoo Widget Engine), which Apple shamelessly copied for their widgets. The one good thing about Google is the desktop search, which is only exceeded by Vista's search.

My work computer has 1,299,516 searchable items at the moment.

im messing around with yahoo desktop and so far im liking it alot better. are there any widgets or tools you reccomend Dd?

Ive been monotoring my system performance so far with it on and several other programs and it doesnt seem to hinder performance like google desktop. Is that mainly because of googles indexing feature?

If you just installed Google Desktop, it does take a little while to get everything indexed but it should be running when you aren't using your computer for anything.

I tried out google desktop but didn't really like it and uninstalled. It's not that it didn't work properly but I just didn't see any reason why I needed it.

MultiNewsReader is the one I recommend the most. Allows several RSS feeds going into a single widget. The real issue with it is you can't move it around the screen, but it does hide itself when you've read everything. Other than that, I just have the weather as a transparent overlay (click-through).
