Its been known for quite a while there will be a ton of versions of vista. I think only a couple versions will really be pirated much. Definitely the super duper gamer edition, and probably the version equivalent to XP pro.

Well unless MS was smart about the design there will also be reduced editions for the EU since MS already puts out a reduced edition of XP there.

The "8 versions" are basically:

- Gimp edition for virtually free (to reduce piracy, apparently)
- Home edition
- EU Home edition (which no one will buy)
- Pro edition
- EU Pro edition (which will sell even less than EU Home)
- Gamer/L33T edition
- Corp edition (I believe this is now separate from "Pro")
- Media Center Edition

This really isn't that different to the XP editions that exist today and isn't nearly as confusing as people are making out.

I just remembered - they may include the "Tablet PC Edition" in there instead of Pro. Just for comparison, XP has:

- XP Home
- EU XP Home
- XP Pro
- EU XP Pro
- Media Center Edition
- Tablet PC Edition
