Network over the internet

Post by GINLAAN »

anyone have any exp with this product or ones that are similiar?

http://www.hamachi.cc/

I dont really care about the security end of things since the two cpu's i want to connect are actually stolen so whats happens to them is not really a concern.

It appears to be a more friendly VPN.

The only bad part I can see is that in order to find the other peers on your network you need their servers to be accessible. So basically if they are down for whatever reason.....you are down.

I use OpenVPN with no-ip.info to locate the machines. Works just great. Shared 256 bit symmetric key is trivial to set up.

Biggest benefits of OpenVPN are it interoperates between Windows and Linux with zero hassles and can run on any UDP or TCP port you care to specify.

Well after playing around openVP wins :-)

It certainly accomplished my goals i had with these two machines where the other did not (got pissed after fiddling with it for 45 mintues).

Aside from what i was doing i would highly recomend these for LAN gaming.

Hamachi seems a bit more organized as far as lan gaming goes but openVP is hands down better for completing network task's
