I love cultural oppression. Nothing more satisfying than another civs city on your border defecting to your side.
I get an irrational amount of joy when that happens.

I hate that. Infact I always erase cities when I conquer them because I like keeping my set of names! Except the time I was Catherine for Russia and they ran out of Russian city names and I started going through the list of American city names.

The other thing to consider......is they make nice buffer cities to slow down your enemy. Think Soviet occupation.
I annex them all and beat them into submission.

She tries to copy the Burz Doctorine of Lone Wolf Triple Army (tm). Go it alone unless someone offers a defense pact, raise an army three times as large as you'd need to take out an opponent, leave one behind guarding cities, send the second in to the opposite side of where they'd expect the attack (assuming you can get open borders with others), launch your rear attack and wait for the opponent to either move forces to his rear to guard or to try and strike at your home then bring up the 3rd army that was in reserve to either blunt the attack or launch a double evelopment of their near front.Kula wrote:Hmmm.......razing cities used to be horrible for your diplomatic relations. I never raze cities so not sure what it does in Civ IV.
100% effective so far in online. Also a good size Navy that's stacked for decoy bombardment/aeral strikes is nice too. Stealth bombers do the majority of the city defense lowering for me because I hate having to protect and move artillery around - a settler in the rear of the first wave of attack to set up a city deep in their territory for another air base launching point rules.
