Unreal Tournament 2003 help

Post by Josh »

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I figured I'd ask here and hopefully get some help or suggestions since I tried everything else.

A few of my friends and I wanted to play UT2k3.

2 of my friends are using a cable/dsl modem and just have that plugged into their machine without a network hub/router, while I have cable but having a network router/hub(Which is DI-604 from D-Link). I already have set the ports in the router and have that configured.

So I set up a game and run it, but my friends see me, but cant connect. I turned off the Windows Firewall (Risky, I know but was trying it out), and no luck. Even when my friends host the game, I see them but cant join them. Especially when my friends is directly hooked into the internet and has no router/hub to interfere.

I even start up a dedicated server and then try joining that, I can get in, but my friends cant.

Any ideas? Already searched the Atari forums, the UT forums and even Google'd but no luck, and sure as hell didnt have any luck asking in the IRC chat channel in UT.

Thanks for your help and time :)

Try having them connect to your internal IP?

Do you all have the same version (you patched but they didn't, or they patched and you didn't)?

Eliminate the router from the equation and see if you can connect. That would be the first logical step.

First logical step is what Tallas said.
Warlord Fallakin Kuvari - 85 Wood Elf Warrior, Brell Serilis forever.
Grandmaster Nikallaf Kuvari - 70 Iksar Monk.

Maybe a silly question that you don't want to answer, but are you all using different CD keys?

Not sure if thats possible in UT2k3, not like in the Original UT where you can type it in and just connect, unless there's a console command to do that.

Yep we do, even with all the other stuff too like Bright Skins, Epic Bonus Pack, CM Bonus pack etc. We can join the other servers that we see as well but not just to our game that we want to play.

Just to test it out, but also, that would mean my wife wouldnt be able to get on. But will try that to see if thats the problem.

Thanks for replies :)

Only reason I suggested internal IP is because I had a similar problem when trying to run Ventrilo.

My guess is it is a port forwarding issue.
