Quitting Everquest Regret
Today, I got an automated birthday message from the now-defunct Ranger's Glade.
Man, flood of nostalgia. Sunmoon, Sean the Scaled Claw, that crazy Paladin who was always starting flamewars...

If Sony offered some kind of micropayment system, like $1 for 24 hours' access, I'd hop on now and then just to be social.

Loved EQ. Had a ton of fun ingame and I still keep in touch with several friends made there.
As far as the game today is concerned? I don't miss a thing. Between playing Wow and catch-up with various console and PC games while adjusting to a different lifestyle (new job, house, etc.) I'm very content.
When I see someone playing EQ now I wince, as it looks very archaic and outdated.

Re:
EQ was fun right up until the point where it became more about grinding AA's like a job then it did playing. At that point, I went right off the wagon, and don't really regret it. The only thing bad about it is not talking to the friends I made on game nearly as much as I did when I was playing 4+ hours a day.

Eh, Monster Missions aren't really the focus of the game at all.Valoria1234 wrote:Don't forget the stupid Monster Missions.. I don't even understand how that becomes the main point of the game..
Spell missions with drops for everyone.. and then a chest loot.. what a waste of time that is..
They might as well start everyone out at 70....
DoDh missions are not easy at all. In fact, you need a pretty good group to win 90% of them.

I'm sooooooo ready to quit EQ2 if Vanguard was out. I don't even want to raid in EQ2 because I have no desire to take loot from my guildmates who have every intention of continuing to play EQ2 for the long haul.
I'm having fun in EQ2 don't get me wrong......I just don't have any emotional connection to the game because my mind is elsewhere.

Agreed.Valoria1234 wrote:They might as well start everyone out at 70....
No regrets; very much miss online friends even though I keep in touch with many of them. I wish I could do it over as I don't think I was a good guild leader; other than caring about and knowing all persons in the guild. We did raid, but I did not push the envelope on things we could have accomplished.
I lost the EQ spirit in 2000, in Chardok...when it became apparent some friends of mine (Andadas, Lanos, etc) were succumbing to greed-before-need. The game was never the same for me after that; and I only stayed at the encouragement from friends.
