i'm in the same boat Jaos.... I really never have problems logging into Kel'Thuzad. I only had a queue my first couple days after launch... and KT is mostly solid. I'm still having fucktons of fun...sucks that lots of people are encountering queues...but I'm pretty sure it's do to population unbalance.

I wouldn't be crowing about EQ2's server stability. They reboot them every morning at 7 PST and Thundering Steppes zones have this nasty habit of crashing every few hours.
WoW's real problem was simply that they didn't anticipate demand and in rolling out new servers they didn't necessarily do it in a way that would ensure a relatively even distribution of players. It's nothing that server merges and player moves can't remedy - hell, EQ2's been allowing certain free moves to address the same issues.

If you ever wanted to know what "unholy lag" was like you should have been there at the end of WoW's open beta. Man that was crazy.
Getting in well and truly sucked for the first few days after the game went live, but I guess I've been lucky since then, as by my perception downtime hasn't been too big an issue. The worst I've had to deal with lately was an hour's wait on Tuesday for the scheduled maintenance to complete. That may be because I avoid "High" population servers.
Other than that, I think they could stand to beef up the login server a bit. I've noticed that occasionally the login process hangs up for a minute.

the worst i had was a queue of like 157 and we have some unholy lag but i was sitting outside IF listening to people say "i' my server is down so i thought i'd play here, is there ALWAYS this much lag ?" There wouldn't have been if you fucks will stay on your own damn servers or going to the LOW population ones instead of the high RP server !

The primary problem currently are the 20 servers they took down for a 16 hour overhaul. The overhaul didnt go well so those 20 servers are all screwed up. The 20 were brought down today for more fixes.
All the other servers are working fine. There are just a lot of people not playing because the servers they picked are among the 20.
All this and MMORPG.com has stated that Blizzard is not allowing anymore "new" accounts to be created until things become more stable.

That's interesting. Why would they stop selling it when there's still clearly more than a few servers that are nowhere near capacity?
I didn't say before but Penny Arcade's "revokation" is just attention whoring. Nothing more. WoW's problems really don't seem that severe to me and I'm sure will be ironed out in pretty quick time.

Given that they've sold 600,000 copies over the holidays, I can't say I'm totally surprised. In a way I'm appreciative, because it helps to preserve gameplay quality for those already playing. Once the server capacity is brought online for it, shipments will of course resume.
