Half Life 2
Unless this game falls apart very quickly from the beginning, ths is every bit as revolutionary as Half Life was in its day.
And yes, ID was smart to release Doom 3 first. It's blown away so far.
There's a world in there.

One of the most graphically impressive games I've ever played. The storyline that they picked up is really interesting. And the ending definately leaves you wanting more. Definately recommend it.

Oh btw, you should be fine Ickor. There's a few times that it gets fairly thick, but I think you would be ok. And you can of course turn the graphics down a notch if necessary.
P.S. I was reading that they had over 40 different factial muscles. You can tell too, the opening scene alone is amazingly impressive.

I was totally blown away by how fluid Half Life 2 is. Half Life: Source is also a lot of fun. I'm gratified to see that they kept the beam system intact. I hope to see lots of companies licensing the Source engine, and using it properly.

Ick,
The graphics stress test leads me to believe that CS:Source got a graphics overhaul.
Am I wrong? (I got turned off to CS in the early days of TKers, but I keep thinking about giving it another shot.)

CS: Source does look better than the original Counterstrike. The feel of the movement physics is also subtly different.

Also, Ick, I think you'll be fine with that card so long as you have a gig of RAM.
I upgraded to a gig recently and my performance across the board was greater than my upgrade from a GeForce 5200 to a 6600.

The Source engine's physics and control responsiveness appear to be decoupled from framerate. This helps the game feel a lot smoother, even in less than ideal performance situations.
I have more respect for John Carmack than any other single person in the gaming industry, but why he couldn't have done this with his graphics engines is beyond me.

Little further in, a caveat:
If you hated the "boat" level in Tomb Raider 3, a good four hours of gameply is similar at level 3 in HL2. (Only with much, much better puzzles and less frustrating.)
It's like they stuck ATV:Offroad or Waverunner in the middle of my FPS!
I like it, but I can see it not being for everyone.

Well, I beat the game in 3 days, about 20ish hours played, overall, I think it ruled. Now I can play CS:Source, I didn't let myself play it until I beat single player.
